The length of eight accents, with which Chopin provided the final crotchets in b. 60-67, differs in A1. The marks in b. 60 and 66 are clearly long; the ones in b. 61 and 64 are also longer than the remaining four. We give such an interpretation as the text of A1; however, if we take into account the fact that Chopin repeats here one rhythmic motif, performed in the same articulation, one can assume that the described differences are simply a random inaccuracy of notation. This is how it was understood in FE (→EE), in which only short accents are included.
Certain differences in the length of the accents are also present in GE; however, they are so insignificant that we do not take them into consideration, particularly since there is no guarantee that they faithfully reflect Chopin's handwriting, be it in [A2] or in the proof copy of GE1 (this also applies to b. 68-76).
