b. 690-691

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

No sign in A (→FEEE)

in bar 691 in FC (→GE1)

 in bars 690-691 in GE2 (→GE3)

..

In the main text we give a  mark, written by Chopin in FC (→GE1) in b. 239-240, of which the discussed bars are a repetition. In GE2 (→GE3) the mark was extended so that it fills two bars (from b. 690) after the authentic  sign in analogous b. 107-108.

b. 709-715

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

No marks in sources

Short accents suggested by the editors

Long accents, our alternative suggestion

..

In the main text we suggest adding accents (in b. 709, 711, 713 and 715). Chopin consistently provided analogous b. 118-124 and 250-256 with them. Due to the lack of certainty on the type of the accents intended by Chopin, we give two versions, with short or long accents.

b. 731

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

Staccato dot in A (→FC)

No mark in FE (→EE) & GE

..

The missing staccato dot in FE (→EE) and GE must be a result of oversights. We can excuse the engraver of GE, since the dot in FC looks like the ending of the octave's stem and is hard to perceive.

b. 732

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

Staccato dot in A (→FEEE)

No mark in FC (→GE)

..

The missing staccato dot in FC (→GE) must be an oversight of the copyist.

b. 756-761

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor

No signs in A (→FEEE)

 hairpins in FC (→GE)

..

The  hairpin in b. 756-757 and 760-761 was added by Chopin in FC (→GE). In b. 756-757 the mark is also in A, yet it was deleted together with the indication written over it.
