The chords in b. 570 and 572 end identical two-bar phrases, which differs them from the chord in b. 568, which ends a four-bar section built of two different two-bar phrases. A gradual reduction in melodic variety along with diminuendo, which started in b. 567, are the next stages of losing energy and calming down the music in this section. Therefore, it is likely that Chopin considered the abandonment of arpeggios as one of the elements of that fading. Due to the above reason, in the main text we leave the notation of A and of the majority of the sources without changes. However, Chopin could have stopped writing arpeggios, since he considered them obvious at that stage or he could have simply overlooked them. Therefore, the version of GE2 (→GE3) may be considered an acceptable variant. See also b. 568-572.
