Verbal indications

b. 443

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

No indication in FE (→EE)

Viol. in GE

..

The addition introduced in GE, although most probably arbitrary (cf. bar 454), is justified here – it is present in all sources in analogous bar 199.

b. 454

composition: Op. 11, Concerto in E minor, Mvt III

No indication in FE (→EE)

Viol. in GE

[Tutti] suggested by the editors

..

The addition introduced in GE must be arbitrary and, what is more, untrue, since this two-bar insert is performed by the entire orchestra and not only by strings. The reviser added a 'Viol.' indication, which was probably influenced by the situation in bar 443, in which he had already added such a 'Viol.' following its three-time appearance in bars 412, 421 and 429. In the main text, we suggest the indication 'Tutti,' compliant with the actual cast.
