  b. 263

In FE, the notation of bars 263-267 is very inaccurate in terms of accidentals, which almost certainly reflects the notation of [A]:

  • in bars 263 and 267, there is no  lowering g1 to g1 – Chopin considered it obvious due to the reigning key, first G major and then E minor;
  • in bars 265-267, there are no naturals restoring a1 in the 2nd halves of the bars, which is a typical oversight of cancellation of an alteration;
  • in bar 265, there is no  restoring e1 at the end of the bar.

The above defects were completed in the remaining editions, whereas it is only GE3 that contains the fully correct text.
