Issues : Cautionary accidentals
b. 111-112
|
composition: Op. 22, Polonaise
..
In the main text we omit the unjustified cautionary flats before the a1 notes. These accidentals are absent in the repetition of this phrase in b. 119-120; therefore, Chopin could have been driven by the key to which the music strives – G minor in b. 111-112, yet D major in b. 119-120. category imprint: Editorial revisions |

EE1 is lacking in the cautionary before a2. The accidental was added in the penultimate stage of proofreading of FE (→GE) and – probably on the basis of GE1 – in EE2. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE |

b. 130
|
composition: Op. 22, Polonaise
..
EE1 features the initial version of the 6th semiquaver, changed in the penultimate stage of proofreading of FE (→GE). The changes of the correction performed on the plate are clearly visible in FE. In addition, the changed note (b1) was provided with a cautionary , which we omit in the main text, since it is superfluous in this context. The accidental was also removed in GE; it is also absent in EE2, in which the corrected note was introduced probably on the basis of GE1. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: EE revisions , GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE , Main-line changes |

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

In the main text we omit the cautionary before c4, featured in FE (→EE). The accidental may be a remaining part of the initial notation of the preceding semiquavers as e3-c4, which would demonstrate that the enharmonic change was performed already in [A]. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Enharmonic corrections |
