b. 114

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

EE1 is lacking in the cautionary  before a2. The accidental was added in the penultimate stage of proofreading of FE (→GE) and – probably on the basis of GE1 – in EE2.

Continuous slur in FE (→GE)

2 slurs in EE

..

In the main text we preserve the slur of FE (→GE), which is most probably authentic. We consider the version of EE, which one can see as an editorial revision or as the initial version of this fragment, to be a variant of uncertain authenticity.

b. 124

composition: Op. 22, Polonaise

..

In FE (→GE1), there is not a single accidental under the octave sign. The patent inaccuracy – the preceding flats before d2 and g2 were considered sufficient – was corrected in EE and – partially – in GE2 (→GE3), in which a  was added only before g3.

No sign in FE

..

The missing  mark must be an inaccuracy of FE (it is the last bar in the line), corrected both in GE and EE.

Quavers in FE (→EE1)

Semiquavers in GE & EE2

..

Semiquavers instead of small quavers are an arbitrary revision of GE. This inauthentic version was also introduced in EE2, most probably on the basis of comparison with GE1. The same in b. 126.
