The missing L.H. slurs in these bars must be considered an inaccuracy of notation. However, it is not entirely clear how it could be corrected:
- Copying the slur from b. 40 seems to be the most natural solution, which we suggest in the main text. Slurs of such a range can also be encountered in b. 26 and 28;
- However, the beginning of the slur in b. 40 could have been reproduced inaccurately in the sources – the vast majority of such figures are encompassed with one slur from the 1st note of the bar (cf., e.g. b. 38-39). Whole-bar slurs were added in the discussed bars in EE;
- It is also likely that Chopin meant slurs beginning after the bass B
note, like in b. 44-46. Slurs running from the semiquavers are also in b. 64 and 66.
