In FE, there are no naturals before the bottom voice d1/2/3 notes. The last one is absolutely necessary; in spite of that, it was not added in any of the subsequent editions, in which the additions were limited to a before d1 at the beginning of the bar. Moreover, FE (→GE) are lacking in the before c3 in the 2nd figure; the accidental was added in EE. Significantly, the previous note, d3, is preceded with a , which was apparently understood as a cautionary accidental due to the d notes in the bottom voice and in the L.H. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Cautionary accidentals , Errors repeated in GE , Errors repeated in EE |

Taking into account the authentic slurs encompassing analogous pairs of the L.H. chords between b. 152-153, 154-155 and 155-156, in the main text we suggest a corresponding addition in this place. A similar slur was also added in EE. In turn, GE2 (→GE3) placed the added slur under the chords; to differentiate it from the tie of b, the second chord was provided with a wedge. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: EE revisions |

FE feature long accents under the last quaver in b. 153, 154 and 156. GE reproduced them as a short hairpin, reaching the 1st quaver of the next bar, which does not influence its meaning in this case (Chopin would sometimes use such notation in two-note motifs). The notation of EE is inaccurate (the use of short accents) and arbitrary (the marks having been doubled in the L.H. part, probably suggested by the authentic notation on the 2nd quaver of these bars). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , EE revisions , Inaccuracies in GE |

The two ones entered by Chopin into FED in b. 154 indicate a fingering foreseen for an identical passage in b. 153 too. In accordance with the General Editorial Principles, p. 17, in the main text we give them in b. 153. After all, FED includes a mark in this bar; it is probably another one, over g2 (unless it is a printing defect). category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions |
