Issues : Errors in GE

b. 27

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

..

This is the first out of two places in which the graphical retouches in the latest impression of GE1, marked in our system as GE1a, contributed to a rhythmic mistake: the quaver flag next to g2 was overlooked. GE2 (→GE3) contains the correct text.

b. 61-66

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

in FE (→EE)

No pedalling in GE

& [] suggested by the editors

..

The easiest explanation for the absence of a  mark in GE would be an oversight, although a revision also cannot be excluded. In turn, the missing  mark may be authentic and does not have to be considered a mistake, since there are  marks without following  marks in Chopin's pieces. Despite that, in the main text we suggest [] at the end of b. 66, mostly to warn performers from earlier pedal changes.

b. 73-74

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

a1 tied in FE (→EE)

a1 repeated in GE

..

The missing tie of a1 is probably a mistake, although it cannot be ruled out that the tie was omitted to give meaning to the accent under the a1 minim in b. 74.

b. 96

composition: Op. 22, Andante spianato

One cannot see the quaver flag next to the final a1 on the copy of GE1a displayed in mUltimate Chopin. According to us, it is a result of this element having been poorly imprinted due to the wear and tear of the engraving plate, hence the flag may be visible on a different copy coming from this impression. Anyway, GE2 (→GE3) include the correct text.
