b. 20

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

In A there is a visible deletion of the original version with the dotted rhythm in the top voice. Moreover, in the first out of three written versions of the ending of the bar, the middle note of the chord was a g2. Cf. analogous bar 344.

Separate slurs in A

Continuous slur in GE (→FEEE)

..

The division of the slur in A is probably the original version, left due to deletions and inability to write a continuous slur in a graceful way. However, such slur is in the L.H. and in GE (→FEEE), where Chopin's possible intention was interpreted correctly.

In A, Chopin wrote the text of bar 35 in the part of the R.H. by accident. Having noticed his mistake, he deleted it and wrote the correct text on an adjacent stave.

b. 55

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt III

..

The chord in the R.H. on the 2nd beat of the bar was crossed out in A and rewritten to the left of the original position. It is possible to read the initial notation – it was a chord written in two parts with a c2-f2-acrotchet in the bottom voice and an eminim in the top one. One can see that Chopin wrote one line too many and in the proofread version he also resigned from the fnote.

In A, there is a visible correction of the middle note of the 2nd crotchet in the R.H. from f2 to e2. The correction was certainly introduced after ½had been completed, which is clearly indicated by different ink and the manner of writing, emphasising the fact of a correction. An identical change, in the same way, was introduced in analogous bar 403, which proves that the version with fwas not an accidental mistake. In the orchestral part written in Morch, there are e2 (flute and clarinet) and e1 (2nd violin, viola and French horn), without any changes. In this situation, it seems to be likely that Chopin wrote the abandoned version of this chord in haste, once changed in [PI], but not in [SI], which he probably used while writing A (cf. the characterization of A).
