Issues : Omissions to cancel alteration

b. 17

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In A (→GE) Chopin overlooked the  returning bin the last crotchet in the bar. The addition of the sign in FE (→EE) may be assigned both to Chopin and a revision of the editor.

b. 49

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

Before the last pair of octaves in the L.H. there are no flats in A, as a result of which they should be read as A-a. Chopin's oversight, corrected already in GE1 (→FEEE, →GE2), is proved by the flats in the parts of all instruments performing the bass line visible in Morch.

b. 85

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

A typical Chopin oversight – a missing  restoring e2 – was not corrected in any of the editions. It is particularly bizarre in FE where the  before ewas removed, unnecessarily repeated on the 4th semiquaver in A (→GE).

b. 99-100

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In these bars, in the part of the R.H. A has only one  raising d to d – at the beginning of bar 99. The  returning bat the beginning of the septuplet in bar 100 is also missing (all previous figures are delayed at the beginning of the group, a suspicion of Chopin's mistake is confirmed by the  written in FED). The editions added both necessary and cautionary signs; superfluous signs were deleted too, yet none of the editions has the completely correct text. In the main text we give all signs necessary for the correct determination of the pitch and two cautionary flats at the beginning of bar 100.
