Different chords in FE

..

The version of GE is almost certainly erroneous: the engraver of GE1 generalised the pattern of the previous bars, in which the chords are unchanged. The version is contrary both to A and Morch, in which in the oboe and 2nd violin parts there is cafter the preceding it d2. FE repeated the mistake of GE1 and added a new one, by overlooking in the last chord. A possibility of a Chopin proofreading in any of these editions is, according to us, to be excluded in this case.

b. 41

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

The natural before the initial third was misplaced in FE: before cinstead of a. The mistake went to EE1, where the "superfluous" sign was omitted. Chopin added the necessary sign in FED; EE2 (→EE3) also includes the correct text.

b. 85

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

A typical Chopin oversight – a missing  restoring e2 – was not corrected in any of the editions. It is particularly bizarre in FE where the  before ewas removed, unnecessarily repeated on the 4th semiquaver in A (→GE).

b. 139

composition: Op. 21, Concerto in F minor, Mvt I

..

In A Chopin overlooked the  restoring a1, which was not noticed in any of the editions. Similarly in analogous bar 287.

4 slurs in A & GE2

1 slur in GE1FE)

No slurs in EE

..

Four little slurs written in A from the grace notes to the opposite notes of the octaves emphasise the expressive character of the octave mini-motifs. The detail was fully reproduced only in GE2 – in the previous editions the majority of the little slurs was overlooked (in EE all of them).
