Starting from bar 51, the part of the L.H. is provided with slurs, even there where a slur of the R.H. can be considered to be applying to both hands (bars 54-55 and particularly bars 56-57). In this situation, we regard leaving it without slur in bars 55-56 as an inaccuracy, which may suggest the use of other articulation than legato in the bass, which would most probably be against Chopin's intention – cf. the slur in the bassoon part in Morch.
