In GC (→GE1) the bar includes only 5 crotchets, which theoretically can be imagined as, e.g., a quintuplet or two crotchets and a crotchet triplet (cf. the rhythm in the R.H. in bar 77). It may have been treated like that in GE1, which explains the absence of a correction. However, an error of the copyist seems to be obvious if we consider:
- the analogous bar of the exposition (bar 89);
- no accidentals before the written 3rd chord – there should be two, of f and of b; it allows for identifying the overlooked chords as the third among six;
- no detailed rhythm, which suggests compatibility of the intended rhythm with the scheme prevailing in the adjacent bars;
- well documented filiation of sources, which proves that the copyist would rewrite the same autograph on which FE was based, including the version with six chords, which does not raise any doubts.
The remaining sources, including GE2, feature the correct text.
