No pedalling in the sources

Pedalling suggested by the editors

The fragmentary pedalling, added by Chopin in GC (cf. bars 169-172), did not include these four bars. It is not the only example of a less careful development of the notation of recapitulation of this theme by Chopin:

  • no indication of dynamics level in bar 169 and subsequent ones;
  • inaccurate slurring in bars 185-191;
  • less accurate indication of the staccato articulation of the bass notes in bars 189-192;
  • no accents in bars 197 and 199;
  • perhaps also no sharps in bars 197 and ties in bars 199-200.
