Issues : Errors in GE

b. 24

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

 in GC

 in FE (→EE)

No sign in GE1

 in GE2mar (→GE2)

..

The  signs in GC and FE may be considered to be equal variants. Due to the reasons discussed in bar 16, in the main text we give the version of FE. The absence of the sign in GE1 is a patent error, corrected inaccurately (arbitrarily) in subsequent GE.

b. 26

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

Same as in bar 18, in GC (→GE1) and FE there is no  raising g2 to g2.

b. 28

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt III

..

Similarly as in bar 20, Chopin's mistake in [A] caused that the correct notation of the trill appeared in the editions – despite the proofreading of FE3 – only in GE2 and EE2. The mistake was corrected in all pupil's copies.

b. 42

e in GC & GE2

g in GE1 (→GE2mar)

f in FE (→EE)

..

Both the version of GC (introduced later in GE2) and of GE1 (→GE2mar) are most probably a mistake. In the main text, we give the only correct version of FE (→EE).

Long accent in GC & GE2

 in FE (→EE)

No sign in GE1 (→GE2mar)

..

It is not clear whether according to Chopin the sign at the beginning of the bar was supposed to be a long accent, as it can be considered on the basis of GC and GE2, or rather a diminuendo, as it was written in FE (→EE). Taking into account the fact that in each of the cases the sign refers to the R.H., the difference in the performance may be imperceptible. To the main text we adopt an interpretation of the base source, i.e. FE.
The absence of the sign in GE1 (→GE2mar) is undoubtedly an oversight.
