The sources illustrate here Chopin's hesitation – cis repeated in As and A (→FEEE,GE; except for GE2no2), yet it is sustained in AI and FED. In the main text, we give the version of the base source, i.e. A, particularly considering the fact that in the autograph Chopin most probably deleted the tie sustaining this note. Cf. also bars 29-30.

Both source versions of the melody at the transition between bars 66 and 67 and 70 and 71 are almost certainly authentic. In the main text, we give an unequivocally authentic version with repeated e2 and fnotes written in the base source, A (→FEEE). The version with sustained notes – FED and GE – can be considered an equal variant.

GE1no2 erroneously puts the tie between the two notes in bar 76 (a "mirror" mistake).
