Issues : Authentic corrections of FE
b. 57-60
|
composition: Op. 64 No 3, Waltz in A♭ major
..
A includes a before the 2nd quaver in bar 57. It means that – in spite of overseeing respective naturals in bars 58-59 – in the entire four-bar section Chopin heard a d2. The version was passed to GE through a proof copy of FE, where the missing naturals were added. While proofreading FE for the second time, Chopin changed the in bar 57 to a , hence lowering the top most sounds in bars 57-60 to d2 (the version is present also in As, interpreted literally, in which there are no signs before these notes). A change of the part of the L.H. in bar 60 (see the note to this bar), introduced in GE, probably coming from Chopin, allows to suggest that also the naturals added in bars 58-59 may come from Chopin. Therefore, in the main text we give the version of A and GE, considering the differentiation introduced in FE (→EE) to be an equal variant. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Omission of current key accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE , Authentic corrections of GE , Inaccuracies in A |

b. 76-77
|
composition: Op. 64 No 3, Waltz in A♭ major
..
In A the g1 minim is supposed to be repeated in bar 77 – it is not combined with a tie with the previous one; moreover, Chopin provided it with a separate tenuto-slur. The tie, present in FE (→GE,EE), linking it to g1, held from bar 72, could have been added by Chopin. However, according to us, a mistake of the engraver, who could have misinterpreted the non-standard tenuto-slur (it is absent in the editions) or simply mistaken bar 77 with one of the previous ones, is more likely. Therefore, in the main text we stick to the notation of A. The version with a tie of g1 in bar 77 can be considered a variant. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Authentic corrections of FE , Tenuto slurs |

b. 90-91
|
composition: Op. 64 No 3, Waltz in A♭ major
..
In the main text we include an additional slur of c2-b1, probably added by Chopin in a proofreading of FE. The sign was overlooked, probably accidentally, in GE1Ab (→GE2Ab). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , Authentic corrections of FE |

The f2 minim in GE is a repetition of a mistake committed in a proof copy of FE, being its base text. In the finished FE (→EE) the mistake was corrected. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Errors in GE , Terzverschreibung error , Authentic corrections of FE |

In A Chopin overlooked the lowering b to b (the sign is present in As). A similar mistake was committed in GE1Ab too. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors in GE , GE revisions , Omission of current key accidentals , Authentic corrections of FE , Inaccuracies in A |
