The version of EE is vitiated by an uncertainty concerning its authenticity – it can be a mistake or revision, which cannot be stated without the manuscript base text to this edition or other additional pieces of source information. Therefore, in the main text we give the compatible version of the remaining sources. The indication of the metronome tempo was added by Chopin in GC in pencil, hence in the last phase of preparing the Stichvorlage manuscripts for print. Differently than at the beginning of the Etude, the composer added the indication only in this copy.
