Issues : Inaccuracies in GE
b. 7-8
|
composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major
..
The sources generally do not differ in the moment of starting the sign (in GE it was moved to the beginning of the triplet, adjusting it – according to its manner – to the rhythmic division), whereas the fact of ending the hairpins earlier in FE may influence the interpretation. In the main text we give the signs based on A (and very similar in this respect EE), yet the most probably authentic indications of FE seem to be equally justified. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE |

composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major

In A (→GE1) and FE there is no raising d to d. This characteristic inaccuracy was corrected in EE and GE2 (→GE3). The latter also added a before a2 on the 4th quaver, poorly justified before a on the 8th quaver and a completely incomprehensible before c2 on the 10th quaver. We also add a before d2 on the 8th quaver of the bar. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions issues: Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in GE , GE revisions |

b. 25
|
composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major
..
The long accent in A (→GE1) was added in GE2 (→GE3), as well as in EE, as short. FE omitted the sign, which may be an inaccuracy resulting from introducing changes in print (similarly as in the case of the staccato dot – see the adjacent note). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in FE , Inaccuracies in GE , EE inaccuracies |

The partially different fingering of EE (the differences include 5 sixths, from the 6th to the 10th quaver in bar 32) is uncomfortable to such an extent that one can suspect a mistake of the engraver who could have, for example, mistaken the groups of quavers – he wrote the fingering of the 9th and 10th sixths over the 6th and 7th quavers, while he placed the numerals foreseen for the 5th-7th sixths over the 8th-10th quavers. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Errors in EE , Differences in fingering , Authentic corrections of FE |
