b. 1

composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major

a-ein A (→GE) & FE

g-ein EE

..

In A the bottom note of the 4th quaver was corrected by Chopin from g to a (similarly in bars 2, 5, 6 and 22). In the 1st bar, the result of this correction is not that obvious, at the first sight, and the version of EE proves that probably the copyist preparing the base text for this edition misinterpreted Chopin's intention.

b. 3

composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major

..

GE1 has a g as the bottom note on the 6th quaver. The comparison with the remaining sources, featuring e, proves that the Terzverschreibung error was committed here, yet, on the basis of GE1, one could also suspect an omission of .

b. 3

composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major

g2 (without ) in A (→GE1), FE & EE

g2 in GE2 (→GE3)

g2 (with ) in FES

..

There is no accidental before the bottom note of the 10th sixth, which makes it to be interpreted as g2. The flat added here in GE2 (→GE3) cannot come from Chopin, yet, one has to admit that a similar addition in many other places would be absolutely accurate – cf. the adjacent note. Possible doubts concerning the sound of this note is dissipated by the  added before it in FES.

b. 3

composition: Op. 25 No 8, Etude in D♭ major

..

In A (→GE1), FE and EE there is no  returning f2 in the penultimate sixth. This patent error was noticed only in GE2 (→GE3) on the occasion of a thorough revision of accidentals – cf. the notes concerning the natural and flat before the previous sixth.
