We consider Gutmann's misunderstanding of the notation of [A] to be the most probable explanation of the difference between GC (→GE) and FE and EE. The same applies to bars 53-58 and 60-64.

Same as in bars 49-52, the simplest explanation of the difference in the staccato signs between GC (→GE) and FE and EE is Gutmann's misunderstanding of the notation of [A]. Similarly in bars 60-64.

Our variant suggestion

..

It is hard to state how the discrepancies in pedal markings between GC (→GE) and FE and EE were created. However, if we take into account the fact that the absence of markings in bars 33-55 most probably is to be understood as pedale simile and not senza pedale, the difference in bar 56 comes down to the presence or absence of pedal change on the 2nd beat of the bar. In the main text, we, therefore, suggest such an alternative. Analogous discrepancies in the pedalling in similar contexts can be seen throughout the entire Etude – cf. bar 25.

Same as in bars 49-58, we attribute the difference in staccato signs between GC (→GE) and FE and EE to Gutmann's misunderstanding of the notation of [A]. Moreover, the copyist overlooked some of the dots in the L.H. in bars 62-63 (over and B), which probably resulted in them being overlooked in GE1 in bar 62.

In GC and FE, there are no naturals on the 4th quaver in bar 60 (b3 and b), while in analogous situation in bar 62 (b2 and B) relevant signs were added in GC, probably by Chopin. In the remaining sources, these patent inaccuracies were corrected.
