b. 26

composition: Op. 10 No 10, Etude in A♭ major

Accent in A

No mark in FE (→GE,EE)

Our variant suggestion

..

Omission of the accent in the editions is one of these numerous situations in which it is uncertain whether we are dealing with a common error or Chopin's proofreading. According to us, the 1st possibility is more plausible.

b. 38

composition: Op. 10 No 10, Etude in A♭ major

Accent in A

No mark in FE (→GE,EE)

Our variant suggestion

..

The missing accent in the editions is probably an oversight of the engraver of FE, undetected by Chopin during proofreadings.

b. 41-42

composition: Op. 10 No 10, Etude in A♭ major

Accents in A

FE (→GE,EE)

..

Different arrangement of the accents in FE (→GE,EE) is most probably a result of Chopin's intervention, although it is uncertain whether the composer moved the more or less accurately reproduced accents of A or only added – in another place – the marks omitted by the engraver.
