The slur in A, despite its reaching quite far to the left towards the 1st crotchet, definitely begins from embracing the chord on the 2nd crotchet. Still, in GE (→FE→EE) the slur begins on the 1st crotchet. The result of corrections halfway through bar 30 is not obvious at the first glance and  GE1 (→FE→EE) do not end the slur at that point. A more detailed analysis of the notation reveals that Chopin divided the original slur, which was probably already noticed in GE2 (→GE3).

In A, the  mark is placed a little earlier than in analogous bars 17 and 25. In the editors' opinion, this notation does not suggest that Chopin wanted to have different pedalling here. Therefore in the main text we give the pedalling in line with analogous bars and GE (→FE→EE).

The first slur in bar 31 serves a double purpose in A (→GE): it is part of the triplet marking and at the same time it defines its articulation. When correcting FE (→EE), Chopin included a longer fragment of the phrase under the slur, and therefore the initial triplet slur lost its motivic and articulative meaning. In this situation we omit that slur, considering its preservation to be an inaccuracy of correction (cf. General Editorial Principles, point 16).
