b. 22

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

In FE the dot extending was omitted, as a result of which the bar in the L.H. has only 11 semiquavers. It is either a simple oversight (cf. bar 26) or a result of a misunderstanding at the time of proofreading (the wrong dot was removed? – see the adjacent remark). The mistake was corrected both in GE and in EE.

b. 25

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

FE has eas the lower note of the 1st semiquaver. This rather obvious from the pianistic point of view error was corrected in GE and EE.

b. 26

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

..

FE overlooks the dots extending the octave in the L.H. This patent error is absent in both A and the remaining editions.

b. 27

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

b-g1 in A, GE & EE

b-f1 in FE

..

The version of FE is almost certainly erroneous and it was not repeated either in GE or EE.

b. 33

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

No fingering in A

Fingering in FE (→GE)

Our suggestion

..

The fingering, given by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE), was, according to us, erroneously reproduced – the digits referring to the bottom notes, placed in the editions over the notes, were mistakenly printed two semiquavers late. In EE Fontana completed the fingering of the upper voice over the 9th and 10th semiquavers.
