b. 26

composition: Op. 10 No 1, Etude in C major
..
The d note as a dotted minim appears only in FE, which most probably means that Chopin introduced it here instead of a semibreve only during a proofreading. Overseeing this change in EE may be explained with a mistake, revision or existence of another phase of FE's proofreading, not included in EE. category imprint: Differences between sources |

composition: Op. 10 No 1, Etude in C major

CLI has a sustained B as a bass note in these bars. This is the original version, moreover, it was almost certainly written with an error – same as in the adjacent bars, it was the B1-B octave that was supposed to be in this place (cf. e.g. bars 3 or 23-24). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Accompaniment changes , Errors of CLI |

b. 39

composition: Op. 10 No 1, Etude in C major

The octave in CLI is the original version (see bar 39). Chopin changed it for a single D note, most probably preparing the working autograph of the Etude – [AI] for publication. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Accompaniment changes |

In CLI the bass – except for the A1-A octave in bar 42 – is written with single notes. It may be the original version, yet an oversight of some or all 8 signs determining the octaves cannot be excluded. The shortened notation can be seen in FE in the first octaves in these bars, which only partially was adopted in the remaining editions: category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Accompaniment changes , Abbreviated octaves' notation |
