b. 26

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

Semibreve in A

Minim in FE (→GE,EE)

..

Adding to the remaining elements of the chord is almost certainly a result of a misunderstanding of the notation of A by the engraver of FE (→GE,EE).

b. 28

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

No slur in A

Slur in FE (→EE,GE1GE2)

GE3 (→GE4)

..

The slur in the L.H. was added – probably by Chopin – in a proofreading of FE (→EE,GE1GE2). The slur clearly indicates continuation in the next bar (on a new page), in which, however, there is no relevant mark. In EE, in which bars 28-29 are not separated, the slur was led to the beginning of bar 29. In turn, in GE3 (→GE4) the slur's range was limited to three semiquavers.

b. 29

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

No slur in A & GE3 (→GE4), literal reading of FE (→GE1GE2)

Slur in EE & contextual interpretation of FE (→GE1GE2)

..

The slur at the end of bar 28, added – at the end of the page – by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→EE,GE1GE2), is unfinished in bar 29. According to us, the inaccuracy concerns this bar and this is how we interpret the notation of FE (→GE1GE2). In EE bars 28-29 are not separated and the slur reaches the D-A fifth.

b. 29-30

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

No pedalling in A

Pedalling in FE (→GE,EE)

..

Chopin added the pedalling in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE).

b. 29

composition: Op. 10 No 8, Etude in F major

Minim in A

Semibreve in FE (→GE,EE)

..

The minim is most probably the original version, left in A due to distraction. To the main text we adopt the semibreve, being probably a result of Chopin's proofreading of FE (→GE,EE).
