Issues : Omission of current key accidentals
b. 18
|
composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor
..
It is difficult to decide whether we are dealing here with one authentic version or with two authentic ones. FE1 has no accidentals in this bar, and such sloppy notation (naturals are obviously needed to lower d to d) suggests that also the lowering G to G could have been omitted. On the other hand, it i s precisely this observation that could have inspired the reviser of GE to add a in that place, so both G and G could possibly be the only authentic version. For that reason we decide to have a variant solution. In versions with the natural we add a cautionary before g in the following bar. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources; Editorial revisions |

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor
..
In FE1 there is no lowering g2 to g2, neither before the penultimate quaver in bar 26, nor at the beginning of bar 27. These patent inaccuracies were corrected both in FE2 and in EE. Moreover, in FE, both in the last octave in bar 26 and in the chord at the beginning of bar 27, all c notes have sharps. In EE the sharps are left only in bar 26. GE has a correct text in accordance with the modern notation rules. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in FE , Cautionary accidentals , Omission of current key accidentals , FE revisions |

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

FE1 is lacking naturals lowering f to f and d1 to d1. They were completed both in FE2 (two accidentals) and in EE (three). Also in GE the spaces between the notes clearly indicate that the accidentals were added only during proofing/revision. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Accidentals in different octaves , Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Omission of current key accidentals , FE revisions |

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

Lack of flats in front of two last quavers is a patent inaccuracy of FE1, corrected in FE2. GE also has a correct text. A suitable addition was also introduced to EE, in which, however, the pitch of the fourth quaver was changed from c2 to c2, as well as of the sixth one - from f2 to f2 (f2?). category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , Omission of current key accidentals , FE revisions |

b. 40

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor
..
In FE1 there is no in front of the last quaver. As far as the melody is concerned, an f2 would not be possible here, but taking into account analogous situations in bars 44 and 48 the omission of the accidental has to be considered the most likely version. Adequate additions were introduced into FE2 and EE. The is also in GE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Inaccuracies in FE , Omission of current key accidentals , FE revisions |
