b. 6-7

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

Two  signs in FE (→EE)

Possible interpretation of FE1

Our variant suggestion

..

In the main text we suggest a variant solution that takes into account both the version of GE and that of FE (→EE). The two   marks that can be seen in FE1 (→FE2, EE) could correspond to one longer mark in the autograph, as in Chopin's times publishers used to replace a single hairpin mark   with two marks when it had to be divided because of a new line of text. For that reason we also propose an alternative version with such an interpretation of the marks. Due to differences in sources and clear analogies in the structure of motifs, the same problem also appears in ten other similar places in the Prelude (on this page in bars 10-11 and 20-21).

b. 10-11

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

 in FE

Two hairpins in EE

..

In the main text we give the   mark stretching across one and a half bars, according to GE. The version of EE, although definitely revised, can be treated as an alternative, as the notation of FE is probably inaccurate (even if it faithfully reproduces the notation of [A1]).

b. 20-21

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

 in FE1 (→EE) & GE

Two hairpins in FE2

..

In the main text we give the  mark stretching across one and a half bars, according to FE1 (→EE) and GE. The notation of FE2, although it meant the same in the context, can nonetheless be treated as an alternative version.

b. 24-25

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

No hairpins in FE (→EE)

 in GE

Our suggestion

Alternative suggestion

..

Lack of  marks in FE (→EE) is probably a result of a less precise marking in [A1]. A comparison with the analogous bars in the entire Prelude indicates a possibility of an inaccurate (incomplete) notation also in GE. Due to this fact, in the main text we propose an addition of the mark in bar 24. We also give an alternative version (one-and-a-half bar  mark) based on the dominant manner of marking similar bars in GE.

b. 26-27

composition: Op. 45, Prelude in C♯ minor

 in FE (→EE)

..

In the main text we give the unambiguous mark in GE. The hairpins in FE (→EE) do not have to exactly reflect Chopin’s notation in [A1], as bar 26 in FE1 is the last one on the page, which could have influenced shortening of the mark.
