Issues : Errors in EE

b. 606-620

up to bar 620, contextual interpretation of EE

up to bar 612 in GC (→GE)

No marking in FE

..

For the main text we adopt cresc. - - - based on GC (→GE). In EE it is divided into syllables (it is the common manner of EE) and extends further only to abruptly end without the last syllable "do" - in b. 615, which is the last on the page. The placement of the first two syllables in bars 606 i 613 suggests that the whole indication should extend as far as b. 620. In FE there is no marking at all, which is most probably Chopin's omission while writing hastily [A2] (cf. annotation to b. 373

D-E in EE

G1-C in GC (→GE) & FE

..

In EE the first two quavers - D-E - judging by the identical notation of the other sources are erroneously written. It needs to be said as well that there is an error in the notation of the second quaver of the bar in GC that may mislead a reader as it is E written out with a ledger line.

Beginning of the slur in EE

Contextual interpretation of GC (→GE)

..

The slur in EE erroneously begins only in b. 624. We may suspect that the omission of the slur's beginning until the end of the line mast have occured already in the manuscript for the edition. Also the GC slur may well be inaccurate, so we assume based on GE that the slur is too long and should apply to where the RH comes in. For the main text we adopt the FE slur which seems to be musically most natural.
