  b. 74-75

c repeated in EE and FE

c tied in GC (→GE)

Our variant suggestion

There is a difference between the sources concerning the sustaining of c sharp at the transition between bars 74-75 and 416-417, and it is not easy to imagine how that discrepancy came about. Bars 416-417 are marked in GC as the repetition of bars 74-75. The autograph copied by Gutmann and also probably other (lost) manuscripts must have had the same notation. Despite that, FE has c sharp repeated in bar 75, and sustained in bar 417 (the same also applies to the sustaining of c sharp2 in the R.H.).The discrepancy may be the result of either omission (in bars 74-75) or correction. If the latter is the case, it is not clear whether the tie was, or ties were, removed upon the first occurrence of the bar or added upon the second.
