composition: Op. 24 No. 4, Mazurka in B♭ minor

..

In this place, the staccato sign has the form of a short, thin line, differing from the usual dots.  Comparison with analogous places (bars 8, 14, 18 and similar) suggests inaccurate notation of A (uncontrolled hand movement). The same remarks apply to the signs in bars 16 and 23 on the same page.

staccato dot in  A and GE2 (→GE3)

Without any articulation sign in GE1 (→FEEE)

..

In A it is not quite clear which of the staccato signs Chopin had in mind: a dot or a wedge. In our view, a dot is much more likely. The sign was omitted from GE1 (→FEEE), and put back in GE2 (→GE3).

Wedges in A

Dots in GE (→FE)

Absence of any signs in EE

..

The staccato signs in A are definitely more like wedges than dots. Still, GE (→FE) has dots in all those places. Absence of any signs in EE is an obvious error.

A wedge in A

No sign in GE1 (→FEEE)

A dot in GE2 (→GE3)

..

A wedge over a flat visible in A was omitted in GE1 (→FEEE). In GE2 (→GE3) the staccato sign was supplemented in the form of a dot under the note.
