b. 237

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

..

The traces of erasure visible in A prove that some marks in the bottom part of the stave were being removed. Perhaps Chopin initially wrote the L.H. part in the 2nd half of the bar an octave lower (by mistake – cf. the Ballade in G minor, Op. 23, bars 159-160).

b. 240

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

..

The deletions visible in A at the beginning of the bar reveal that Chopin initially wrote d1 as the bottom note of the 1st chord, accompanied by F (con 8) as the L.H. octave. Therefore, the  to the next d1 crotchet was most probably meant to cancel the alteration and not to perform the role of a cautionary accidental following d in the preceding bar.

b. 245-246

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

..

In A Chopin overlooked the flats restoring b1 in bar 245 and b2 in bar 246. The patent oversight was already noticed by GE (→FE,EE,IE), yet flats were added only in bar 246 (to the penultimate R.H. and L.H. octaves).

b. 245

composition: (Op. 4), Sonata in C minor, Mvt I

..

As in many other places, in A Chopin wrote accidentals only to the top notes of the R.H. octaves. All the omitted accidentals were added by GE (→FE,EE,IE).
