The missing crotchet complementing the R.H. bottom voice in the sources is probably Chopin's oversight. Such a conclusion can be reached on the basis of a comparison with analogous bar 138 and 297. On the other hand, in a few places in this eight-bar section Chopin undoubtedly omitted some notes on purpose, present in analogous places, most probably due to a lower register of the discussed phrase – cf. bar 127 and 135, the 2nd and 3rd crotchets, bar 128 and 136, the 4th crotchet, bar 134 and 142, the 3rd crotchet. This suggests that the f note in this bar could have been left out on purpose as well. However, there are many arguments against this possibility:
- Chopinesque autographs feature randomly overlooked notes, e.g. in the Sonata in B minor, Op. 58, IV mov., bar 160, Barcarolle in F, Op. 60, bar 31, Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op. 61, bar 173 and 176 or Nocturne in B, Op. 62 No. 1, bar 33.
- In the discussed place, in A one can see traces of corrections on the top stave, which could have drawn Chopin's attention away from the bottom voice.
- Pianistic reasons – omission of the discussed note distorts the two consistently led sound planes in the R.H.
