No markings in FE (→EE)

In the version of this bar corrected by Chopin in FE (→EE) – see the note above – there are no pedal markings, which was most probably intended by Chopin, as was the shortening of the slur and the addition of . In terms of sources, one has to, however, note that the removal of these markings could have been a side effect of the aforementioned correction, which almost certainly required the deletion of the entire bar (perhaps except the final rests). Therefore, if the  and  were placed between the staves, as it was the case 2 bars before (bar 62), they would have been deleted, even if Chopin had not planned their removal. However, taking into account the fact that the performance of the last octave without the harmonic background of the previous chord gives excellent results, emphasising the resolute nature of this ending, we discourage the use of pedal in the main version of the text.
