Issues : Corrections in A
b. 524-525
|
composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
The mark crossed out in A on the 2nd beat of bar 524 is most probably a crotchet rest. It means that initially the L.H. part was the same as in b. 516 (except for the enharmonic difference in the notation). category imprint: Corrections & alterations; Source & stylistic information issues: Corrections in A , Deletions in A , Accompaniment changes |

In the main text we give 5 accents written by Chopin in FC, our principal source. The slur present in A was not reproduced both in FC and FE; Chopin also did not introduce it in any of them, although he was adding indications in this place in both of them. In turn, the hairpin is preserved in FE and can be considered a fully-fledged variant. In turn, taking into account the fact that Chopin could have added it in A already after having proofread FC, we suggest it also as a variant completion of the version of FC. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Corrections in A , Chopin's hesitations , Authentic corrections of FC |

The slurs of EE added in b. 561-562 and 565-566 are contrary to Chopin's intention. It is proven by the same type of slurs having been crossed out in A in the first of those places. According to us, it is even uncertain whether the slurs were an actual original concept of articulation of those motifs, since Chopin could have erroneously marked one similar place too many while adding slurs on that page of A. category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: EE revisions , Corrections in A , Deletions in A |

A missing accent at the beginning of each of these 4 bars may be an oversight of Fontana. According to us, it is, however, more likely that Chopin added the accents in A after FC had already been prepared. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Corrections in A , Errors of FC |
