Issues : Tenuto slurs
b. 30-32
|
composition: Op. 25 No 4, Etude in A minor
..
In spite of the clearly divided slurs of A (→FC), both FE and GE1 embrace these three bars with one slur. The later beginning of the slur in bar 31 in EE is the original version, not corrected by Chopin in the base text to this edition (the extension of the slur is visible in A and most probably in FC). category imprint: Differences between sources; Corrections & alterations issues: Inaccuracies in GE , Inaccuracies in FE , Corrections in A , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FC , Tenuto slurs |

composition: Op. 25 No 4, Etude in A minor
..
A slur starting from the minim c2 is a clear example of so-called tenuto-slurs, emphasizing the necessity of holding down the last note under the slur. Cf. e.g. Concerto in F minor, Op. 21, mvt. II, bar 84. category imprint: Source & stylistic information issues: Tenuto slurs |

b. 32
|
composition: Op. 30 No. 2, Mazurka in B minor
..
In the main text we give the longer slur of FC (→GE1). This place appears in the authentic sources – FC and FE – 7 times (bars 24, 32, 56 and 64; in bar 64 only in FC), 5 of which have a slur with such an ending. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Tenuto slurs |

b. 36-37
|
composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt II
..
The longer slur of FE (→EE) is most probably a result of an erroneous interpretation of the slur reaching the end of bar 36 in [A]. Chopin would use this kind of tenuto slurs on numerous occasions. The supposition is confirmed in Chopin proofreading of FE3 in the corresponding place of the recapitulation – see bar 224. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Tenuto slurs |

b. 41-42
|
composition: Op. 50 No. 1, Mazurka in G major
..
The omission of the slur of A1 in FE (→EE), which is based thereon, suggests that a similar situation could have taken place in the relationship between [A2] and GE. Such slurs over single notes of the upper voice can be found on several occasions in Chopin's oeuvre, e.g. in the Waltz in A Major, Op. 64 No. 3, b. 77. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Tenuto slurs |
