b. 46

composition: Op. 35, Sonata in B♭ minor, Mvt IV

10 bars in GC (→GE) & FE1 (→FE2)

8 bars in EE, FE3 (→FE4) & FESch

..

Between bars 46 and 47, GC (→GE) and FE1 (→FE2) include another two bars, identical to bars 9-10. It is probably a result of a mistake at the time of performing an abbreviated marking of bar 39 and following with numerals as repetitions of the respective bars of the beginning – Chopin marked 10 bars in this way instead of eight. The composer removed the superfluous bars in the proofreading of FE3 and in the base text to EE, he also deleted them in FESch and two (according to Mikuli) pupil's copies, belonging to Fryderyka Streicher and Marcelina Czartoryska.

b. 48-49

composition: Op. 25 No 1, Etude in A♭ major

A (→CDP,GE), FE & EE

..

Interpretation of the written in pencil ending of the Etude is impeded in AI by limited resolution of the preserved photography. Originally, the piece ends in bar 48: . Chopin then added in pencil an additional bar, yet interpretation of the details of the part of the L.H., which seems to be edited differently than in A and editions, is not entirely certain.

b. 50-52

composition: Op. 28 No. 21, Prelude in B♭ major

Minims g-g1 & f-f1 in A (→FCGE1, →FEEE)

Dotted minims in GE2 (→GE3)

..

Formally speaking, the revision of GE2 is justified – in the "voice" provided with a stem pointing upwards, the bar is incomplete. However, Chopin would rarely enter rests in such situations; an oversight of dots extending minims seems to be highly unlikely due to the fact that the notation of these chords was corrected a few times, including the crossed-out rest on the 3rd beat of b. 51.

b. 54

composition: Op. 10 No 3, Etude in E major

a2-d2-a3 in AI

d2-b2 in A (→FEGE,EE)

..

The version of AI is certainly earlier and it cannot be excluded that it was left by inattention as the ending of the fragment that was ultimately deleted by Chopin.

b. 60-68

composition: Op. 50 No. 2, Mazurka in A♭ major

No repeats in A1 & EE

Repeats in FE & GE

..

The version without repetition of b. 60-67 and 68-83 written down in A1 must be the original version, changed by Chopin in the last stage of proofreading of FE, since EE convey the version of A1. The repeat signs are also included in GE1; however, it is difficult to say whether they were added only just in print or still in [A2]; according to us – rather in the manuscript.
