Wedges in GE (→FE,EE)

..

The wedges, added to the bass crotchets in GE1 certainly by mistake, were strangely consistently repeated by all the remaining editions. The source of the mistake could be the first crotchet stem, to f, which in A does not reach the notehead and therefore could have been considered a wedge.

The first note in the top voice in A (→GE1FEEE) is an erroneous double dotted quaver. Moreover, the assignment of the middle note in the 1st chord is unclear; e2 – the head, devoid of a stem, could be combined with ain the top voice (as in the previous bar) or with din the bottom one (as in analogous bar 170). The editions repeated the layout of the previous bar, at the same time assimilating the value of ewith a2. The editors of mUltimate Chopin are inclined to the second possibility, suggesting in the main text a solution fully analogous with the version from the exposition.

b. 321-322

composition: Op. 2, Variations, complete

..

In A there are no accidentals to the last semiquaver on each beat of the bar – Chopin considered the accidentals written to the earlier notes placed an octave lower to be valid (AsI is slightly more accurate, since it includes a  to c2 in bar 321). In GE1 (→FE,EE) these accidentals were added only just starting from g2, the last semiquaver in bar 321. In GE2 (→FESB) a  to e2 was also added, while in GE3 also a  to c2.
In the main text we give all the omitted accidentals and omit the unnecessarily repeated  to f2 at the beginning of the last R.H. triplet.
There is a similar situation in bars 324-325 and 327-328.

b. 326

composition: Op. 16, Rondo in E♭ major

..

In FE (→EE), there are no naturals raising the A1-A octave to A1-A in the L.H. and the 3rd a semiquaver to a in the R.H. The mistake, patent in this context (cf. analogous bar 328), was corrected in GE and EE2 (→EE3).
