The poco ritenuto indication was most probably added to FC by Chopin. If we take into account the fact that there are indications he added both to FC and FE, we can assume that he forwent some of them or at least considered them less important. Due to the above, in the main text we include those that specify one of the possible ways of interpretation, in a variant form (in brackets).

Same as in bars 9-10, Chopin added here two  signs. This time, however, he did it only in FC (→GE). Generally, in bars 39-52 Chopin added the highest number of dynamic signs in FC (in bars 39-42, 44-50 and 52-53). EE has them only in bars 41-42 and 49, while A only in bars 44-45.

The long accent was written into FC by Chopin.

The missing  in A (→FE→EE1→EE2) was probably overlooked by Chopin: the bar closes the page, which favours distraction. The mark was added in FC (→GE) and EE3.

In FC the initial fragment of the slur, over bar 40, was added probably by Chopin. Therefore, we regard this version as a Chopinesque improvement and give it in the main text.
