In JC, both a1 in the group of semiquavers in the R.H. and in the chord in the L.H. on the 3rd beat of the bar are provided with naturals. It illustrates Chopin's inclination to emphasise the 7th step of the major scale with cautionary accidentals, despite a correct key signature.

b. 37-39

composition: Op. 10 No 7, Etude in C major

A (→FEEE,GE1GE2) has naturals before b1, the upper note of the last semiquaver in bars 38-39. The unnecessary accidentals were removed in GE3 (→GE4), yet adding a  before b1 at the end of bar 37, more justified from the formal point of view. Moreover, in the sources there is also an unnecessary  before the first c1 in bar 38. In the main text we do not include any of these signs.

GC (→GE) has a cautionary  before the minim g2. The missing sign in FE (→EE) could be an oversight by the engraver. However, the sign is superfluous here and we do not include it in the main text.
