The missing e
1 note in the last chord of the alternative accompaniment most probably resulted from Chopin's oversight in A – cf. analogous b. 139 and 147 both in the version for one piano and in the orchestral part (e.g. in AsI). The note was added by GE3, and this is the version we give in the main text.
Interestingly, in the solo part of AsI Chopin did not finish writing this chord – he only wrote an f-a third and 3 ledger lines over the stave, which suggests a chord reaching at least g1. Therefore, unfortunately, this notation does not allow us to settle the doubt concerning the potential presence of e1.
