The revision of GE2 (→GE3) was probably an attempt at standardising the inconsistent notation of FE, in which throughout the entire Mazurka slurs generally reach the 1st beat of even bars (as in bars 1-2). The AI slurring, which is more consistent in this respect, confirms that some deviations from the most frequent slurs are accidental inaccuracies, as is the case, e.g. with the discussed bars. Due to the above, in the main text we provide here a longer slur. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions; Corrections & alterations issues: GE revisions |

The fact that the slur is not continued in a new line in FE is most probably an oversight by the engraver, and it was interpreted as such in the remaining editions. A longer slur is also present in AI, which allows us to recognise this version as the only one intended by Chopin. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in FE , GE revisions |

In the main text, after a comparison with similar bar 75, we insert a slur after AI. The absence of the slur in FE (→GE,→EE) is probably an oversight, perhaps present already in [A]. category imprint: Differences between sources; Editorial revisions |
