Pedalling

b. 9-24

composition: Op. 50 No. 3, Mazurka in C♯ minor

..

In AI the only pedalling marking is in b. 91. Therefore, the absence of pedalling does not constitute an actual performance variant; it simply proves that the manuscript is unfinished. Due to the above reason, in the entire Mazurka we give the version of AI only when at least one of the remaining sources is lacking in pedalling markings.

Pedalling in GE

..

In AF the  mark is crossed out in the place in which it is given by GE and written further, under the 3rd beat of b. 12. Therefore, we include this correction in the main text. Cf. b. 103-104. In FE (→EE) the  was placed inaccurately.

The pedalling markings are an improvement introduced by Chopin in [AG] or in the proofreading of GE1. There is a similar situation in b. 27 and 29 as well as in 117, 119 and 121.

..

These unobvious pedalling markings were added by Chopin in AF. They are absent both in the remaining sources and in analogous b. 122-123, hence in the main text we include them in a variant form.
