b. 34

The demisemiquaver beam is placed in A to the left of the stem of the 5th sixth in the 2nd half of the bar and in GE it is placed on the right side of the stem, in line with standard rules of notation. The fact that the beam is on the left side of the stem in FE (→EE) may mean that in Chopin's times there were no strict notation rules for that issue. In Chopin's notation the beam - together with the rest, slur and the staccato sign – suggests the correct phrasing, and in the notation of GE adopted by us - the correct rhythmical grouping.

In FE (→EE), the last sixth has mistakenly the value of a quaver. The mutual correlation of the parts of both hands is also erroneous - the last semiquaver of the left hand is printed too early, under the rest in the right hand.
