b. 115-123

composition: WN 29, Waltz in E minor

No slurs in sources

Slurs suggested by the editors

..

As in bars 43 and 51, the missing slur in bars 115 and 123 is most probably an oversight. Therefore, in the main text we suggest slurs after bars 11 and 19.

B1 in sources

g suggested by the editors

..

In PE the 1st L.H. note is undoubtedly an erroneous B1 instead of g, which is present in all analogous bars. It resulted from an accidental, excessive change of clefs – in this edition the L.H. part in bars 113-118 is written down – unlike in all the previous appearances of this phrase – with the use of a treble clef for the 2nd and 3rd beats of bars 113-116 and for entire bars 117-118: . It can be seen that if it were not for the bass clef at the end of bar 115, the text would be correct. The mistake remained unnoticed also in GE.

No markings in main text

..

The pedalling of PE, with a  mark at the beginning of bar 120, although harmonically correct, is probably inaccurate, which is indicated by a comparison with analogous bars 15-16 and 47-48. The correction introduced in GE seems to be a compromise between the pedalling of the aforementioned bars and the markings of PE in the discussed bar. In the main text we omit pedal markings here, as before – see bars 17-24

b. 120

composition: WN 29, Waltz in E minor

..

In the main text we add a slur after analogous bars 16 and 48, since its absence here almost certainly resulted from inattention – see bar 115.

Pedalling in both passages suggested by the editors

..

A two-bar pedal is marked in the sources only the first time this section appears (bars 97-98). It is most probably an oversight, hence in the main text we include (by means of the repeat sign) the marks given the first time in both places.
