b. 3

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

..

A, FE, EE lack the flat restoring e2 at the end of the bar. The accidental was added in GE. Omissions of such type belong to the most frequently committed mistakes by Chopin. Cf. bar 71.

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

A, FE and EE are lacking in the natural raising d3 to d3. The sign was added in GE.
In the entire Impromptus Chopin rather treated the accidentals as valid regardless of the octave in which the altered pitch appeared; therefore, it is difficult to clearly consider the absence of that sign as an omission.

At the beginning of the bar, in A one can see a deleted fragment of the R.H. part. The editors have not succeeded at deciphering the deleted text.

Before the 6th quaver one can see a crossed out flat in A. Allegedly, at first Chopin wanted to write g2.

composition: Op. 29, Impromptu in A♭ major

We add a cautionary flat next to b2. The sign was added by someone else in A and printed in GE.
It is the first out of several signs added in A by GE's engraver or reviser. The additions are of random character – they were introduced only in the 1st, 5th and 6th page of the notation. A part of additions (e.g. the flat in the described bar) are cautionary signs justified with the musical narration, however some of them are either unnecessary (e.g. in bar 104) or grossly erroneous (bars 103 and 106).
