In both known copies of EE2, the omitted accents were added by hand. They were also added in the later impressions of EE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE |

composition: Op. 10 No 3, Etude in E major

The change of Vivace to Lento was introduced by Chopin in a proofreading of FE (→GE,EE). The tempo indication of this Etude is the most flagrant example of the change of concept in Chopin's pieces, although a few arguments prove that the actual deceleration of the tempo could have not been that significant as it is suggested by the transition from Vivace to Lento ma non troppo. composition: Op. 10 No 3, Etude in E major

Chopin added the metronome indication at the time of proofreading FE. The value of crotchet in GE and EE is certainly erroneous – even with a quaver the tempo seems to be very fast and it has not been obeyed by the pianists for over one hundred years. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE , Errors in GE , Metronome tempos |

In GC (→GE1) and EE there is no returning f at the beginning of the 2nd group of semiquavers of the introduction, which almost certainly corresponds to the notation of [A]. It is a very typical mistake of Chopin – cf., e.g., the Nocturne in Cminor, Op. 27 No. 1, bar 83, or the Impromptu in A major, Op. 29, bar 71. The sign was added in the proofreading of FE, most probably by Chopin, as well as in GE2 (→GE3). category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Errors in EE , Omissions to cancel alteration , Errors in GE , GE revisions , Authentic corrections of FE |

composition: Op. 31, Scherzo in B♭ minor
..
A is devoid of both the title and dedication (it seems that the aim of the pencilled addition at the top of the 1st page is to identify the manuscript for ordering purposes). In the main text we give them after the complete version of FC (→GE), free from mistakes. FE (→EE1→EE2) omitted the title of nobility of the dedication's addressee; there are also a few mistakes in her name and surname. Moreover, EE1 (→EE2) includes an additional, inauthentic title 'La Méditation.' The collective title page of EE3 omitted both that addition and the dedication; however, the Scherzo was marked as second. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: EE revisions , Errors in FE , Dedications , Errors in EE , Authentic corrections of FC |
