Issues : Sign reversal
b. 4
|
composition: Op. 10 No 2, Etude in A minor
..
The mark in FE (→GE,EE) is one of a few that had already been printed in FEcor. Therefore, its compliance with Chopin's intention is not certain due to the possibility of reversing the direction of the sign as a result of the engraver's error (cf., e.g., the Etude in C minor, No. 12, bar 53). Such an error seems to be possible if we take into consideration the four-bar section which ends here and the recurring first phrase with its crescendo and a possible in Ap. category imprint: Graphic ambiguousness; Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Long accents , Errors in FE , Sign reversal |

b. 6

composition: Op. 27 No 2, Nocturne in D♭ major
..
Chopin introduced a number of changes when correcting FE, also in performance markings. Here, however, it is almost certain that the hairpin was accidentally reversed by the engraver. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , Sign reversal |

b. 23
|
composition: Op. 25 No 7, Etude in C♯ minor
..
In the main text we give the unambiguous hairpins written in GC (→GE). The sign in FE may be a result of a frequently encountered print error consisting in inserting the mirror-image of the intended sign (cf., e.g., the Etude in C minor, Op. 10 No. 12, bar 53). The absence of the sign in EE1 (→EE2) is most probably a result of inattention, while its addition in EE3 – a revision based on GE. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Errors in FE , Sign reversal |

b. 24
|
composition: Op. 10 No 6, Etude in E♭ minor
..
In the main text we give the hairpins after A. In FE (→GE,EE) they were aligned to the third of the upper voice, which most probably was a manner of the engraver of FE. In GE5 the direction of the mark was reversed. category imprint: Differences between sources issues: Inaccuracies in FE , GE revisions , Sign reversal |

b. 27-29
|
composition: WN 17, Polonaise in B♭ major
..
To the main text we adopt two signs present in PE in bars 27 and 29. The first of them is also in EF (in JC there is no sign). In turn, we do not consider the short at the beginning of bar 27, which seems to be left mistakenly. category imprint: Interpretations within context; Differences between sources issues: Sign reversal , Errors in PE |
